NLP or Neuro linguistic Programming, the brainchild of two Americans, Richard Bandler and John Grinder in the early 70s, studies how we put our thoughts together, how we know what we know and how we construct our experiences. It is a process oriented psychology that concentrates on the “how” of a problem and not the “what” (content) and the “why” (blames and excuses).

Included on this page are list of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) references that I have. These are excellent sources of NLP. If you want to learn and expand your knowledge regarding the subject, you can never go wrong with these titles. If you are interested, feel free to email me.

Trance-Formations: Neuro-Linguistic Programming and the Structure of Hypnosis
by Richard Bandler, John Grinder

This definitive guide to Ericksonian hypnosis by Bandler and Grinder is superb. They explain how to induce trance and the language patterns to use. They also dispel some myths about hypnosis and discuss how we all go into trance every day -- while we drive, as we doze off, or when we daydream. I have seen copies of this book sold for $. I still would not sell mine for so little money, for the value of the information therein is worth so much more. If you wish to learn Ericksonian hypnosis, then I highly recommend this book to you.

Frogs Into Princess

If you plan to start an NLP Practitioner certification class soon, or if you just want to learn more about NLP, then I recommend to you this fine work by Bandler and Grinder. You will get an overview of how NLP enables you to change your thoughts and emotions easily.

Sleight of Mouth: The Magic of Conversational Belief Change
by Robert Dilts

All of our thoughts and actions are undertaken within a frame of reference (of which we may or may not be conscious). Sometimes these frames lock us into very restrictive thinking that limits the choices we have in life. Using reframes, we can assist ourselves and others to get a different perspective on a problem and potentially other possible solutions. Reframing by itself seldom resolves the problem. Reframing offers the potential of “softening up” the problem so that its resolution is more plausible. A very powerful set of reframing patterns, called Sleight of Mouth, was developed by Robert Dilts through modeling the verbal patterns of people such as Karl Marx, Milton Erickson, Abraham Lincoln, Jesus and Mohandas Gandhi.
